The crankcase heater is an electric heating element that is installed in the oil sump of a refrigeration compressor. It is used to heat the lubricating oil during downtime to maintain a certain temperature, thereby reducing the proportion of refrigerant dissolved in the oil. The main purpose is to prevent the viscosity of the oil-refrigerant mixture from becoming too high when the temperature drops, which would make it difficult for the compressor to start. For large units, this method is usually used to protect the compressor, but for small units, it is not necessary as the refrigeration system has a small amount of refrigerant and a small pressure differential between high and low pressure.
In extremely cold conditions, the engine oil in the air conditioner’s body may condense, affecting the normal startup of the unit. The compressor heating belt can help the oil warm up and enable the unit to start normally.
To protect the compressor from damage during the cold winter months and extend its lifespan, (the oil in the compressor will congeal and form hard clumps during operation in the cold winter months, causing hard friction when the compressor is turned on, which can damage the compressor).

Important notes:
1. When installing, the silicone rubber flat side of the electric heating tape should be in contact with the surface of the medium pipe or tank, and fixed with aluminum foil tape or glass fiber insulation tape.
2.To reduce heat loss, an additional insulation layer should be applied to the outer side of the electric heating tape.
3. Do not overlap or wrap the installation in a circular pattern, as this may cause overheating and damage.
