The selection and installation method of heating wire for cold storage drainage pipe

Selection of Heating Wire

The drainage pipes in the cold storage’s downwater system are prone to freezing in low temperatures, affecting the drainage effect and even causing pipe rupture. Therefore, in order to ensure unobstructed drainage, a drain heating cable should be installed on the pipes. There are three common materials for heating wires: copper, aluminum, and carbon fiber. Different materials of heating wires are suitable for different scenarios.

1. Copper heating wire: suitable for long-term use at low temperatures, with good conductivity and heat conduction, stable heating effect, but relatively expensive.

2. Aluminum heating wire: suitable for short-term use in low temperature environments, relatively cheaper, but the heating effect is not as good as copper heating wire.

3. Carbon fiber heating wire: suitable for scenarios where high-quality wiring is required, with good corrosion resistance and high-temperature resistance, but relatively expensive.

When choosing heating wire, users should choose the appropriate material and specifications based on their actual needs.

Installation of Drain Pipe Heating Wire

1. Measure pipe length: Before installing the heating wire, the length of the drainage pipe needs to be measured to determine the length of heating wire required for installation.

2. Fixed heating wire: Fixed the heating wire on the pipe surface, you can use aluminum or stainless steel pipe clamps to fix it. Note that the distance between the heating wires should be kept consistent to avoid being too dense or too sparse.

3. Wire fixing: Pass the heating wire through the interior of the pipe and secure it with stainless steel wire, which can effectively prevent the heating wire from slipping or falling off.

4. Connect the power supply: Connect the heating wire to the power supply and use a protective tube to protect the power cord to avoid short circuits.

5. Check the heating wire: After installation, it is necessary to check the heating wire to ensure that there are no open circuits or short circuits in the heating wire.

In summary, the selection and installation of heating cables for cold storage downwater drainage pipes are very important. Users need to choose the appropriate heating cable material and specifications based on actual conditions, and properly install the heating cables to ensure unobstructed drainage and prevent pipe freezing.
